COMMUNICATIONS & ORGANIZING STRATEGY

Emerson Union for Resident Assistants | 2023–2024

As a member of the original organizing committee for the Emerson Union for Resident Assistants (EURA), I helped shape communications and outreach strategy during a broader wave of resident assistant organizing across college campuses. With RAs at peer institutions pursuing unionization and, in some cases, strike action, our campaign required building support internally while communicating our goals clearly to the wider Emerson community. I co-launched EURA’s digital presence and developed its visual identity, campaign graphics, reusable templates and external messaging to build awareness and keep students informed.

Internally, I helped develop outreach strategies focused on building participation and support ahead of our union vote. This included informational meetings, direct peer outreach and door-to-door conversations, alongside a private social media channel for sharing organizing information with RAs. I also participated in organizing training with OPEIU Local 153 and supported community events and media engagement. The campaign received coverage from The Boston Globe and The Berkeley Beacon, achieved a unanimous unionization vote, and ultimately resulted in paid employment contracts for Emerson resident assistants.
